February 3, 2024 – First Home Alliance was honored to participate in a four-day event after being formally invited by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which saw an incredible turnout, with over 3,000 people in attendance each day. Held in Falls Church, the event brought together over 60 organizations, fostering invaluable conversations and connections within the community.
Throughout the event, our team had the privilege of engaging with attendees and discussing our range of services aimed at supporting individuals in their pursuit of decent affordable housing, including first-time home buying. As an organization dedicated to helping individuals achieve their American Dream of homeownership, we were heartened by the enthusiasm and interest shown by new Afghan immigrants who visited our table.
One of the event’s highlights was the chance to hear the diverse stories and experiences of our newest immigrant community members. These conversations underscored the importance of accessible housing assistance, education, and workforce development initiatives, all of which were topics at the forefront of discussions with the various participating organizations.
“We were deeply inspired by the passion and resilience of the individuals we met at the event. We are committed to leveraging our resources and expertise to empower members of our community on their journey towards sustainable housing and financial stability.” – Vanessa Houge First Home Alliance Staff Member
As the event ended, we left with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to continue our efforts in serving our community’s needs. We extend our gratitude to HUD for inviting us to attend such a meaningful gathering and look forward to further collaboration with our fellow organizations in the future.
