Walker Consultants, LLC, a platform for her to connect, inspire, and empower individuals across various sectors—from legal support to corporate governance and office administration. However, it’s her work with the B.A.S.I.C. Project that truly shines, showcasing her passion for mental health advocacy and conflict resolution, and illustrating her holistic approach to human development.

 Her educational path, crowned by a master’s degree in human services counseling, alongside her diverse professional background, from graphic design to ministry, underscores a life dedicated to serving others. Bettye’s story embodies resilience, dedication, and a profound belief in the transformative power of conversation.

 During the interview, Bettye delved into her upbringing in Norfolk, navigating the challenges of growing up during Jim Crow laws and segregation. She also shared insights into the B.A.S.I.C. Project, a testament to her commitment to mental health advocacy and conflict resolution.

 In addition to her impactful work, Bettye has authored her first book, “Living for A Purpose: The Journey,” addressing themes of purpose and resilience. Rock Your Block is a weekly TV program aired by Fairfax Public Access (FPA) on Channel 10. The show shines a spotlight on Fairfax County and Washington-area neighborhoods and individuals doing good in their communities and encouraging others in similar acts. Channel 10 airs local programming indicative of the diverse lifestyles and interests of the Washington metro area. Rock Your Block airs Tuesdays at 2:30 pm, Fridays at 6 pm, and Saturdays at 12:30 am. First Home Alliance is a HUD-approved 501(c)3 not-for-profit housing counseling agency promoting financial literacy and economic self-sufficiency.
